Sustainable Laboratories in the Middle East and North
Africa

During this unique session, laboratory directors and
senior scientists from the Middle East and North Africa discussed
real world challenges to operating high-performance laboratories
in their countries. They outlined the main programs of their facilities
and discussed how they confront issues of environmental performance,
energy efficiency, and the application of green technologies, as
well as biosafety and biocontainment concerns. This symposium was
the result of collaboration between the International Institute
for Sustainable Laboratories and the U.S. Department of State's
Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific
Affairs.
