The I2SL University Alliance Group met to continue the pursuit of strategies in “greening” the federal research grant process. Led by Kathryn Ramirez-Aguilar from the University of Colorado-Boulder, the meeting aimed to broaden university representation in the group; identify a pathway for working with the federal grants community at-large in a collaborative, cooperative manner; and identify shared responsibilities for each. This meeting followed Kathryn's morning roundtable discussion on Tuesday morning.

I2SL Laboratory Continuous Performance Improvement Program (LCPIP) Working Group Meeting
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Having presented several major elements of the LCPIP Wednesday morning, I2SL held a working group meeting to 1) review the comments from the morning presentation, 2) suggest improvements to those elements, 3) identify new elements to be developed in advance of the 2015 conference, 4) consider how to integrate the LCPIP components, and 5) options on how to apply LCPIP to laboratories. I2SL is working with the U.S. Department of Energy's Better Buildings Challenge to enhance the Labs21 Benchmarking Tool so that it will accept and display real-time energy consumption data. The partners welcomed metering system developers, IT professionals, energy service companies, and owners to assist in enhancing this tool for the benefit of the global community of lab owners, operators, and designers. I2SL continues to receive assurances that trainingfor laboratory operations, maintenance, and management personnel is necessary and that an I2SL certification is an appropriate strategy to identify those having participated in this training to be recognized as laboratory operations and management professionals. This meeting focused on identifying a process to develop or access the training, identify sources for funding assistance, and identify volunteers to champion this cause.
Discussion About Needs and Opportunities for a State-Wide Lab Efficiency Initiative for Florida
4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
I2SL has discussed a possible state-wide initiative for laboratory efficiency with various lab facility stakeholders from campuses around the state. This meeting allowed stakeholders from around the state to discuss possible needs and opportunities for a state-wide lab efficiency program, and what such an initiative would entail.
