Implementation—To encourage collaborative creation of technologically advanced, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsive laboratories throughout the world.

Education—To facilitate the application of sustainable “whole-building” approach in designing, engineering, constructing, operating, and using laboratories and other advanced facilities.

Past Events

The I2SL Pacific Northwest Chapter held a successful hybrid event on Wednesday, August 17 with over 60 attendees. Attendees heard from a series of panelists about capital planning for conformance with the Washington State Clean Buildings Energy Act. You can view the slides from the presentation here.

The chapter welcomed five panelists from Washington State higher education institutions on both Zoom and at Arup Seattle’s offices. The event focused on state legislation called the Clean Buildings Standard, which gives the Department of Commerce authority to develop and implement energy standards for non-residential buildings greater than 50,000 SF in floor area, with the goal of encouraging greater energy efficiency and reducing dependency on fossil fuels. The legislation applies to both publicly and privately owned buildings, and includes both early adoption incentives and substantial financial penalties for non-compliance with its strict Energy Use Intensity (EUI) targets. The panelists explained each institutions approach to compliance and next steps needed.

Become a Sponsor

The Pacific Northwest Chapter is seeking companies to partner with us in support of the niche Architectural, Engineering, and Contracting (AEC) industry. Support of the Pacific Northwest Chapter not only links your name to the non-profit in support of sustainable laboratory professionals in Washington and Oregon for AEC, it makes you a sponsoring partner in our diverse events we host each year; thereby generating increased—and highly positive—visibility for your company.

Sponsoring partners enjoy the following benefits:

  • Publicity in our print and online announcements
  • Placement of their brands on promotional materials
  • Recognition at I2SL Pacific Northwest Chapter events
  • Chance to speak, showcase products, and distribute promotional materials at I2SL Pacific Northwest Chapter events

With four different levels of participation, beginning at just $250, becoming an I2SL Pacific Northwest Chapter partner is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve brand recognition and awareness among members and the broader community.
